Outdoor Learning Study – Volunteers Needed
Carleton University is looking for volunteers for an outdoor learning study.
The project aims to examine the experiences of educators and students who are teaching and learning outdoors to explore the factors that influence success and identify ways to help others become involved in outdoor learning. You will be asked to participate in an interview with your child. The interviews will be audio/video recorded through Zoom.
PARENTS
To be eligible, you must:
- Have a child within grades K-8 at the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario who has been participating in outdoor learning
- Be comfortable in the English language
The study will take place online and should take approximately 60 minutes to complete an interview. Participants will be compensated with a gift card of their choice from President’s Choice, Walmart or Indigo (80$ value). Parents/caregivers will be compensated 50$ and students will be compensated 30$.
*If you do the interview, it will not affect your grades or your ability to get into any new programs. Doing the interview is not related to grades or programs at all, and participating in the study will not change anything for you at school.
STAFF
To be eligible, you must be:
- Staff working at the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario who has been participating in outdoor learning (K-8)
- Comfortable in the English language
You can choose to participate in an interview (1-hour) or a survey (20 minutes). All interviews and surveys will be completed online. The study should take approximately 20 minutes (survey) or 60 minutes (interview) to complete. Participants will be compensated with a gift card of their choice from President’s Choice, Walmart or Indigo (25$ for surveys; 40$ for interviews). Participation is voluntary.
