Eastern Ontario SKLZ Competition 2023
Cornwall, Ontario was buzzing with the sound of hammers, wrenches, and blow dryers this past Tuesday as the regions two school boards battled it out in the popular Eastern Ontario SKLZ Competition.
The annual event, organized in partnership between the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, UCDSB, and St. Lawrence College (SLC), was held at the SLC Cornwall Campus and Elegance College of Healthcare Services & Cosmetology. The day consisted of skilled trades events in carpentry, welding, small engine repair, cabinet making, environment, hairstyling, CAD design and more, with eight CDSBEO secondary schools in attendance.

Stephen Rymal “Spirit of the SKLZ” Award
New to the 2022 competition was the Stephen Rymal “Spirit of the SKLZ” award, presented to the CDSBEO school that best embodied the spirit of the event through participation, collaboration, teamwork, and overall performance. This trophy is named after Steve Rymal, a long-time tech teacher at St. John Catholic High School and enthusiastic supporter of this annual event. Congratulations to Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School for winning the award for 2023!
