Family Literacy Day
Family Literacy Day is celebrated every January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in literacy-related activities as a family. Schools, libraries, and community groups across Canada have been part of this initiative since 1999.
To celebrate Family Literacy Day, we encourage families to participate in literacy related activities such as baking, creating songs, and playing games.
This year’s theme, “Learn to Be Green, Together,” encourages families to explore ways to care for the environment. In addition, ABC Life Literacy Canada’s Honorary Chair, Barbara Reid, will host a special virtual presentation on Thursday, January 23rd at 4:30 pm. This event, geared toward students in Grades 1 to 6, will teach families how to use clay to create beautiful pictures. Click here to register.
