New Trustee Appointed for City of Brockville, Town of Smiths Falls, and Leeds County
The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario is pleased to announce Paula Hart has been appointed as the new Trustee for the City of Brockville, Town of Smiths Falls and Leeds County. Trustee Hart joins the Board of Trustees after a robust 30-year career in education, which began in Kingston, Ontario in 1989. In 1992, she began teaching Kindergarten with the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville County Roman Catholic Separate School Board (LLGRCSSB). During her career, Trustee Hart taught at St. Mark (Prescott), and J.L. Jordan and St. John Bosco (Brockville), educated students through the Summer Learning Program, and held tenure as Acting Vice-Principal. Trustee Hart follows in the footsteps of her father, Glenn Morris, who served on the Board of Trustees with the LLGRCSSB prior to amalgamation from 1970 to 1998.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are pleased to welcome Trustee Hart in her new role,” noted CDSBEO Chair Todd Lalonde. “She brings a wealth of knowledge of the education sector, and through her professional experiences, we know that she will always have the best interests of our students at heart. Trustee Hart will make an outstanding contribution, and we look forward to working with her to support student achievement and well-being and further the board’s mission, vision and strategic priorities.”
“I am very excited to embark on this new path in education which will allow me the opportunity to continue to serve the students of this board, and to be a voice for our school communities,” noted Trustee Hart.
As Trustee, Hart will act as the community’s advocate for public education. A Trustee’s role is to maintain a focus on student achievement and well-being and to participate in making decisions that benefit the entire district. They provide an important link between local communities and the school board, bringing the issues and concerns of their constituents to board discussions and decision making. Trustees are required to carry out their responsibilities in a manner that assists the Board in fulfilling its duties under the Education Act.
