Rideau St. Lawrence Science Fair 2025

CDSBEO was pleased to see the scientific process come to life with students from Notre Dame Catholic High School and St. Michael Catholic High School at the Rideau St. Lawrence Science Fair, held on Thursday, April 10 at the North Grenville Municipal Centre.
Representing the schools among the approximate 70 exhibitors are:
Students from St. Michael CHS – Lauren Byers (The Power of AI); Jacob Davidson and Blake Heavens (Up, Up and Away), and students from Notre Dame CHS – Lukas Savkoff (TALON: the affordable, versatile SAR UAV of the future), Maddie Zukowski (Marketing our minds) and Weylan Stewart (Intelligent Breathalyzer Ignition System).

We thank the Rideau St. Lawrence in partnership with Youth Science Canada/Ontario and Canada Wide Science Fair for their continued advocacy and investment in youth STEM. Without their leadership our CDSBEO students and students across true communities would not have the opportunity to showcase and grow their passion for the sciences.
Jacob Davidson and Blake Heavens came first in the Junior Curiosity and Ingenuity Category for their project Up, Up and Away. They also won the RSLSF Euclid Award sponsored by Chromatographic Specialties Inc.

Lauren Byers came third in the Junior Digital Technology category with her project the Power of AI.

Lukas Savkoff came second in the Intermediate/Senior category with his project TALON: The Affordable, Versatile SAR UAV of the Future. He also won the PEO Int/Sr Engineering Award sponsored by the Professional Engineers of Ontario, the Int/Sr Physics Award sponsored by Ontario Power Generation and was Second Best of Fair. This means he will be moving on to the Canada Wide Science Fair as a member of the RSL-CWSF Team.

Weylan Stewart came third in the Intermediate/Senior Category with his project Intelligent Breathalyzer Ignition System.

Maddie Zukowski and Mia Cameron (absent) won the Intermediate/Senior Psychology Award with their project Marketing our Minds.
