St. John CHS Student Charlotte Brown Selected as Schulich Leader Scholarship Recipient
St. John CHS student Charlotte Brown will be attending the University of Waterloo this September, after having been selected as a recipient of the Schulich Leader Scholarship. This scholarship, which is worth $80,000 over four years, is one of just 100 scholarships available across Canada for 20 partner universities.
Charlotte is the first St. John CHS student to win this prestigious award. She was selected for meeting criteria which included academic excellence, demonstrated leadership, charisma and creativity, and the intent to pursue a career in technology, engineering, entrepreneurship and business enterprise or applied scientific research. Charlotte intends to pursue a a degree in the biotechnology/chartered professional accountancy co-op program beginning in the fall.
“When I first saw the email that I had received the Schulich Leader Scholarship from the University of Waterloo, I was shocked. There were a lot of exceptional candidates, so I was honoured to be chosen as the recipient of such a prestigious scholarship. I am passionate about using biotechnology to give back to my community and make a difference on a global scale,” she explained.
“I am so happy that I was given this scholarship for a program in a field that I am really passionate about. I am excited to begin the next chapter in my life at the University of Waterloo as a member of the Schulich leader community.”
The Board would like to congratulate Charlotte Brown on this exceptional accomplishment, and we wish her well as she begins her program in September.
