Students Construct Picnic Tables for Healing Place Garden
Students in Mr. Kargus’s (St. Mary Catholic High School) and Mr. Tardif’s (Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School – Cornwall) Construction Technology classes, built picnic tables to support Plenty of Canada’s Healing Place Garden in Spencerville.
The picnic tables were inspired by the Haudenosaunee (Mohawk) teachings given by Allen Smoke, CDSBEO Indigenous Student Success Mentor, on the Ohénton Kariwatékwen (Thanksgiving Address) and Wampum Belts.
This amazing community initiative was funded by OYAP Community Development! A special thank you to South Nation Conservation Authority for their presentation on the Healing Place Garden and transporting the tables to their forever home.
